Let's Talk

My name is Shawn Williams, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for Mayor of North Branch. I have called this community home for over 40 years. For more than 30 years, I have worked directly for the City of North Branch and served 30 years on the North Branch Township Board.

Throughout my career, I have had the honor of serving as:

  • Director of Public Works and Utilities for the City of North Branch

  • North Branch Township Clerk

These roles have given me a deep understanding of how our city operates — from infrastructure and utilities to budgeting, long-term planning, and community development.

STABALIZE TAXES

Address revenue shortfalls

We must balance revenue and expenditures to meet the needs of our Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) without overburdening taxpayers. I understand our city’s finances, revenue streams, debt structure, and liquidity. We are currently sitting on excess cash, and we must responsibly evaluate our debt-to-liquidity ratio to ensure we are managing taxpayer dollars wisely.

No Flock Cameras

I do not support Flock cameras

  • Listen to Our Community: I listen to our residents, and I have heard clearly that they do not want Flock cameras in our community.

  • Be Responsible With Taxpayer Dollars: Flock cameras come with significant upfront and ongoing costs. I believe our tax dollars can be used for better things.

  • Respect Privacy and Security Concerns: Residents have legitimate concerns about privacy, data security, and how camera information may be used.

  • Put Residents First: As mayor, I will make decisions based on what our community wants and needs.

  • Your Voice Matters: If our constituents do not support Flock cameras, their concerns deserve to be heard and respected.

Your POWER. Your VOICE. Your CHOICE!

Why am I running for Mayor?

Provide strong leadership that makes important decisions that positively benefit all residents.

I am running to provide strong, steady leadership and to make important decisions that positively benefit our community.

North Branch is currently facing revenue shortfalls due to poor financial decisions made by past councils. We must address these challenges head-on with experience, transparency, and fiscal responsibility.

This is not a time for weak leadership or poor decision-making. It is a time for integrity, accountability, and proven experience.

North Branch is more than a city — it’s home.

Our location right off the highway, which provides opportunity for growth and economic development while still maintaining our small-town character. Our trails, our neighborhoods, and most importantly, our people that make North Branch a great community.

What truly makes North Branch special is the strong sense of community involvement. I’ve seen firsthand how residents step up, support one another, and work together to make our city stronger.

Responsible Community Growth

Growth is important — but it must be strategic and sustainable. Our location offers tremendous opportunity, but growth must be guided by sound planning and infrastructure readiness.
